Mr. David L Weiss

biography

David Weiss was born in the Cleveland, Ohio area. He attended Columbia University in New York and received a BS degree in Industrial Engineering in 1963. After serving as an Engineer with the US Air Force and Alcan Aluminum Corporation, he returned to Columbia University where he earned his MBA degree in 1967, graduating first in his class.

Upon the completion of his formal education, Mr. Weiss joined Ford Motor Company in the New Business Development Office which was primarily involved in venture capital activities with a wide variety of high technology companies. He acted as Chief Financial Officer and then Chief Operating Officer of a Ford affiliated manufacturing company in Los Angeles. After serving as Financial/Operations Analyst for the President and Chairman of Baker Industries, he returned to the aluminum industry in 1977 as Chief Operating Officer of an architectural products manufacturing company.

Mr. Weiss currently serves as a Member of the Japan America Society of Southern California, and the Orange County Forum. He is a Past President of the Columbia Alumni Association and a Founding Member of the Columbia Business School Alumni Association of Southern California, in addition to being a past Member of the Board of Directors of the Southern California Chapter of the International Association of Corporate and Professional Recruiters. He has also been a Member of the Association for Corporate Growth and the Leukemia Society and is listed in The Who's Who Platinum Edition.

Mr. Weiss entered the executive search field in 1979 as a Vice President and Partner of Korn/Ferry International. He formed D.L. Weiss and Associates in 1990, after having been a Managing Partner of Mitchell, Larsen & Zilliacus and General Manager of its Orange County office. Prior to that, he had been Managing Partner of the Los Angeles office of Ward Howell, a major international executive search firm.
