Rod McDermott serves as a Co-Founder and Managing Director of McDermott & Bull Executive Search, overseeing the firm’s Search Consultants that conduct executive recruiting engagements in the high technology, financial services, real estate, aerospace and defense, manufacturing, retail and consumer products, healthcare and life sciences industries, as well as the Research Associates that assist the Search Consultants in their efforts. McDermott & Bull currently has 3 offices, operating in Orange County, San Diego and Los Angeles. The firm is one of the fastest growing in the country and one of the largest in Southern California.

He currently serves on the Boards of the Orange Coast Venture Group, the pre-eminent forum in Orange County for Venture Capitalists and Entrepreneurs, as well as THINK Together, an after-school non profit based in Santa Ana serving over 4,000 economically disadvantaged children.

Prior to establishing McDermott & Bull Executive Search, Mr. McDermott was Executive Vice President and Managing Director of the Technology and Emerging Growth Company practice at DHR International, Inc., the nation’s sixth largest and fastest growing executive search firm. At DHR’s Irvine, California office, Mr. McDermott is credited with building a significant executive search practice catering to high profile technology clients such as Toshiba, Gateway, America Online, ACER and Boeing.

Prior to joining DHR International, Mr. McDermott served as Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Dartron Inc., a leading manufacturer of computer peripherals and computer security devices under the brand AnchorPad. Mr. McDermott led the company’s efforts in developing a national dealer network comprised of computer resellers and distributors, including major relationships such as Dell Computer, Micro Warehouse, and Merisel Corporation. At Dartron, Mr. McDermott developed a national account strategy based on the recruitment of Regional Sales Managers in key geographic regions of the country, combined with a force of independent sales representatives spread throughout the U.S., Canada and Europe.

Earlier in his career, Mr. McDermott served as Vice President, Corporate Finance at Security Pacific National Bank. His responsibilities included managing the financing relationships between the bank and major Fortune 1000 companies, including several LBO’s, multiple equity lending relationships, and senior debt facility borrowers. At Security Pacific, Mr. McDermott’s efforts led to the expansion of the high technology portfolio of the bank’s California Commercial Group, specifically through relationships established with Hambrecht and Quist equity financed companies. Mr. McDermott first began his career with Citicorp, first as a Financial Analyst in the New York Corporate Finance Division and then with the bank’s Energy Group in Houston, Texas. Mr. McDermott worked with the Southwest Regional Office diverse client base, which included major multinational energy companies, as well as Fortune 500 companies in other industries, such as Tyson Foods, ABF Freightways, Halliburton and JC Penney.

Mr. McDermott received a Bachelors Degree in Economics and Business from the University of California, Los Angeles.
