Mr. Gary W McCracken

biography

Gary McCracken is a Toronto-based business executive and search consultant whose executive search practice and activities draw upon both his own corporate operating background history, as well as his comprehensive executive search experience. He has successfully executed search assignments for operating executives and professionals across a broad spectrum of executive functions in a wide variety of industries and settings – including financial services, technology, consulting, real estate, communications, manufacturing, utilities and more. In addition, he has successfully executed Deputy Minister and other senior level postings in the public sector directly, CEO level appointments in Crown Corporations and numerous positions in hybrid public - private corporations.

His clients have included everything from entrepreurial "start-ups" through rapidly growing middle-market companies and industry-leading corporations. The most common theme across his clients and assignments has been managing change and building for the future. He has also successfully executed high-profile searches in unique circumstances such as entire inaugural Boards of Directors and Executive Directors for non-profit associations.

Prior to his search career, Gary worked in retail and commercial banking; initially with the Royal Bank of Canada and subsquently with Barclays Bank of Canada. In his last role as Executive Vice President, Commercial Banking, Gary held general management responsibility for Barclays’ core commercial banking business operating in eleven offices across Canada. In addition, he held executive responsibility for Barclays real estate and leasing activities in Canada.

Gary holds an MBA from the Ivey School of Business and an undergraduate degree in Business & Economics from the University of Western Ontario.
