Mr. Alan Bachrach

biography

Mr. Bachrach has created a legendary career in the cardiology industry with more than 40 years experience as an employee, manager and consultant to 24 start-up companies including 10 acquisitions and 3 IPOs. In his career, he has either held or managed almost every level of sales and marketing position as well as CEO and General Management positions giving him first hand knowledge of the requirements to successfully fill senior management positions. Mr. Bachrach began his career in 1966 as a territory manager with McGaw Laboratories, a division of American Hospital Supply. He then spent 14 years with Cordis & Cordis Dow, including being one of the first Product Managers at Cordis and two years in the Middle East establishing and managing their distributor network. In the following years, Alan also served as President and GM of Symbion Europe (the Jarvik artificial heart), EMEA Sales & Marketing Manager at ACS, which later became Guidant and 6 years managing Scimed Europe until they were acquired by Boston Scientific. During his ensuing career, Alan’s management roles with start-up companies have included PAS & ACT, Conceptus, Biosense, eCliniq.com of which he was a co-founder, AST, Neich Medical, X Technologies, TopSpin Medical, Conor Medsystems, Velocimed, CSI, Cappella and most recently as Executive Director, Sales & Marketing, EMEA, at Micrus Endovascular, Europe, a turn-around assignment. Mr. Bachrach did his post graduate studies at the Universities of Brussels and Leuven Medical Schools in Belgium. Mr. Bachrach is also an active investor and consultant for numerous US, European and Israeli early-stage medical device companies, including YMed and Thermopeutix.
